This Wednesday, July 29th at 1pm, Postdocs and Research Associates will be meeting with Penn admin for another bargaining session where we will discuss our latest International Research Rights proposal. Postdocs have seen the gains made by our unionized colleagues at other institutions when it comes to expanded rights and protections for international researchers. Earlier this year, Postdocs at the University of California successfully negotiated a contract that includes up to three weeks of paid time off for visa renewals or immigration relief, a $400,000 legal consultation fund to support international workers facing immigration concerns, and more. However, Penn has so far refused to agree to even the most basic improvements to the existing rights and protections of international workers. When fellow Postdocs and Research Associates attend bargaining sessions as observers, Penn understands that we expect more. That’s why I’m asking my coworkers to commit to attending our next session this Wednesday, July 29th at 1pm at the Inn at Penn so we can show Penn that we are serious about securing the improvements we deserve!
